A risk factor is anything that increases a person's chance of getting a disease such as cancer. Different cancers have different risk factors. Riskfactorsyoucannotchange Previousradiationtherapytothelungs Peoplewhohavehadradiationtherapytothechestforothercancersareathigherriskforlungcancer,particularlyiftheysmoke.ExamplesincludepeoplewhohavebeentreatedforHodgkindiseaseorwomenwhogetchestradiationafteramastectomyforbreastcancer.Womenwhohaveradiationtherapytothebreastafteralumpectomydonotappeartohaveahigherthanexpectedriskoflungcancer.
