ThenewShuanglong(TwinDragon)rainbowsuspensionbridgeinNantouCounty'sXinyiTownshipisparalleltoanother,oldersuspensionbridgenearthefalls.Thenewbridgeis342metersinlengthandstretches110metersabovetheriverbed,orabouttheheightofa30-storybuilding,CNAreported. TheNantouCountyGovernmenthasrecommendedthatthepublictakeGrandTransit(豐榮客運)busNo.6288fromacrosstheShuiliTrainStation(水里火車)tovisitthebridgeandwaterfalls,sayingthattheroadleadingtothevillagenearthebridgeisnarrowandthatparkingislimited. ThesuspensionbridgecostNT$60million(US$2million)tobuild,andthefundingcamefromtheNantouCountyGovernment,theSunMoonLakeNationalScenicAreaAdministration,andtheXinyiTownshipOffice. ShuanglongWaterfallusedtobeatall,single-layerwaterfall,butitsplitintotwolayersin1999duetothethe921Earthquake,makingitatouristhotspot.TheroadlinkingthewaterfallswiththeoutsideworldwasdestroyedbyTyphoonMorakotin2009,causingthepopularityoftheattractiontodecline;however,thenewbridgeisintendedtorekindlethepublic'sinterest.
