NormalMods Modscomeintheformof“cards”thatequiptojustabouteverythinginWarframe.Yougetmodsforyour‘frames,weapons,companions,Archwings,andmore.Eachmodenhancesadifferentstatistic(sometimesmultiplestatistics).Someincreaseyourdamageoutput.Othersraiseyourshieldsand/orhealtoincreasesurvivability. Normalmodsdropthroughoutyoureverydaymissionsandasrewardsforcompletingbounties.Regularenemies,bosses,andcontainersallrandomlydropmods.Certainmissiontypes—suchasSurvival,Excavation,andInterception—alsoperiodicallyawardmods.You’llearnthesesuckerssoquicklywhileplayingWarframethatyouwon’tknowwhattodowiththemall.We’llcoverthatinanotherguide,though! AuraMods Auramodsaffectbothyouandyourentiresquadatonce.Theyareequippedtoadedicatedslot(onlyfoundonWarframesthemselves)whichcannotbeutilizedbyanyothertypeofmod. ThemostcommonwaytoearnAuraModsisbydoingMissionAlerts.Thesearethetime-limitedevents —usuallylasting30-60minutes —thatperiodicallyappearonyourstarmap.KeepaneyeonthefeedforchancestoearnAuraMods!Ifyoudon’tdothesemissions,youcangoalongtimewithouttheseimportantbuffs. OneofthemostimportantthingsaboutAuraModsisthattheyaddtoyourtotalmodcapacity,ratherthansubtractfromit.We’llgetmoreintothisinabit,somakesuretocheckback.Fornow,justknowAuraModsthatmatchtheirslot’spolarity(thetinysymbolonthetop-rightofeverymodcardandmodslot)doubletheir“drain.” AnAuraModwithadrainvalueoffournormallyincreasesmodcapacitybyfour.However,ifthesymbolsmatch,itwillinsteadincreasecapacitybyeight.Likewise,ifyouputaanAuraModintoaWarframewithaconflictingsymbol,youwillonlygethalfthebenefit.Sothefourbonuspointswouldbecometwo. Thatmakesahugedifference —especiallywhenyou’restilllevelingupaWarframe. StanceMods StanceModsareverysimilartoAuraMods.Theycanonlybeequippedinaspecificslotandonlyonmeleeweapons.Theyalsoincreasetheweapon’smodcapacity,whichagain,isdoubledwhenthepolaritieslineup. Whenequipped,StanceModsaddvaluablemeleecombostoaweapon.Theydonot,however,affecttheentireteamlikeAuraMods.Andnotethattheseareonlyavailablewhentheweaponisdrawninsteadofagun:notwhenusingquickmelee. ExilusMods ExilusModsare,again,verysimilartoAuraMods.Theytypicallyprovidesmallutilitybonuses —liketheabilitytoseelootonyourminimap.ExilusModsmustalsobe equippedinthespecialExilusModslot,whichonlyappearsonWarframesandnotweapons. Tounlocktheslot,youmustuseaspecialitemcalledanExilusAdapter.ThisisararerewardfromSorties(late-gamedailymissions),Teshin(thePVPvendor),andCephalonSimaris(aspecialvendoronRelaystationsthatgivesyouhuntingbounties).YoualsogetExilusAdaptersfromcertainquests. DriftMods Technically,DriftModsarejustanoffshootofExilusMods.TheyfitintotheExilusslotonyourWarframeandofferrelativelyminorboosts.However,they’retypicallymuchmorepowerfulthanstandardExilusMods.Theyprovidetwostatbonuses,likeNightmareModemods,andcanonlybeobtainedinoneway(besidestrading). YouobtainDriftModsonLua(akatheOrokinMoon).That’stheWarframenameforEarth’smoon.Thezonedoesn’tunlockuntilafteryoubeatTheSecondDreamquest.Onceyoudo,however,canaccessthearealikeanyother.ExceptLuamissionswillspawnoneofseveralchallengesatrandom.IfyoucompleteaLuachallenge,yougetthecorrespondingDriftMod.Sothe“agilitytest”unlocksAgilityDrift,whilethe“collaborationtest”unlocksCoactionDrift,andsoon. NightmareModeMods Onceyou“complete”agivenplanetormoonbyfullyunlockingallofitsmissionnodes,youunlockNightmareModemissions.Thesetime-limitedmissionsrewardexclusivemodswithtwodifferentstatbuffs. Forexample,Vigorincreasesbothhealthandshields.Andsinceitisn’tjustaPrimedversionofRedirection(whichincreasesshieldcapacity)orVitality(whichincreaseshitpoints),youcanstackthosebonuses. Theycanbeincrediblypowerful.AlthoughNightmareModequestsusuallycomewithharshmodifiers(likenoshields).Trytoequiptheright‘frameforeachjob! CorruptedMods LikeNightmareMods,CorruptedModsaffecttwodifferentstats.However,thesemodsincreaseoneandactually reducetheother.However,theincreasedstatisleagueshigherthanmostothermodsinthegame.And,likeNightmareModemods,youcanstackthemwithnormalmods.Ingeneral,trytoincreasesomethingimportanttoyourWarframeanditsplaystylewhiledecreasessomethingthatdoesn’tmatterasmuch. Unfortunately,CorruptedModsareverytrickytoobtain.Youcanonlyearnthem,atrandom,ontheOrokinDerelict.ThemodsarestoredinhiddenVaultswhichrequireDragonKeystoenter.TherearefourtypesofDragonKeysandtheVaultwillonlyopenforone.So,sinceonlyoneplayercanequiponeDragonKeyatatime,youwanttohavefourplayers —eachequippedwitha differentDragonKey —everytimeyouhuntforCorruptedMods. It’scomplicated…Andyoudon’treallyhavetoworryabouttheseitemswhenyou’rejuststartingout.It’sjusthelpfultoknowwhattheyaresoyouatleastknowwhatgeneralchatistalkingabout.Speakingofwhich,theRecruitmentchannelisafantasticplacetofindteamsofplayerslookingforsomeonetohelpcarryDragonKeys. AugmentMods Asthenameimplies,AugmentModsalteraspecificWarframepower.Theyprovideexistingabilitieswithadditionaleffectsormorepower.RisingStorm,forinstance,isanAshmodthatextendsthemeleemultiplierofBladeStormby100percentatitshighestlevel.AmodforHydroid,calledPilferingSwarm,causesenemieshitbytheTentacleSwarmskilltodropextraloot. WarframeSyndicatesfoundonRelaystationsprovidethesemods.Youneedtoalignyourselfwiththemtoearnthe“standing”necessarytobuythem.Oryoucouldjusttradewithotherplayersforquickeraccess.EachSyndicatefavorsspecificWarframes,too,sounlockingthemallisaHerculeaneffort. ConclaveMods ConclaveModsaretheleastpopularmodsavailable.They’reexclusivetothePVPConclavemodeanddon’tdoanythinganywhereelse.Unlessyouplanonplayingthat(andnoteveryonedoes)thesearesafetoignore. Flawed/DamagedMods FlawedModsareeasilyidentifiedbytheircrackedimagesandlarge“DAMAGED”textonthecards.Theseareweakerversionsof“real”modsthatyougetatthestartofthegame.They’reokayfornewusers,butshouldbereplacedthesecondyougetthestandardversions.Thatshouldhappenalmostimmediately. PrimedMods Everyfewweeks,BaroKi’Teer,atraderfromthevoid,comestoaTennoRelaysomewhereinthesolarsystem.IfyouknowXurfromDestiny2,yougettheidea.AlthoughBarocomesdecidedlylessfrequently.He doesbringsasomewhatrandomselectionofcosmetics,weapons,andPrimedMods,though.TheseLegendaryModsarebetterversionsofnormalmodsandhaveahigherceilingofrank10. Notethateventhoughtheytechnicallyhavedifferentnames,PrimedModsdonotstackwiththeirregularcounterparts. RivenMods Hereareyourlate-gamemods.Rivens,asthecommunitycallsthem,arethebreadandbutteroftheendgameandabigdrivingforceofthegame’stradingeconomy. EachRivenModcanhaveuptofourrandomattributes —eitherpositiveornegative.Andingeneral,strongernegativeeffectsmirrorstrongerpositiveeffects,similartoCorruptedMods.Thebigdifferenceisthatthesestatsarecompletelyrandom.ThatcanmakeforsomepotentcombinationsthatarehighlysoughtafteronWarframe‘sTradechannel. RivensareapotentialrewardthroughthedailySortiemissionswhichareofferedlaterinthegame.Youalsogetoneforcompleting“TheWarWithin”quest. Unlikeothermods,RivensdropinaVeiledstate,wherethestatsareinitiallyunknown.EveryRivenisalsospecificallymeantfor one specifictypeofweapon.Forinstance,youcan’tuseanAklexRivenonanArcaPlasmor.Nottomention,thelesscommonaweaponisusedbytheWarframecommunity,themorepowerfultheRivenstatscanpotentiallybe. Sadly,inVeiledform,allyouknowaboutaRiveniswhatcategory ofweaponit’sfor:rifle,melee,pistol,shotgun,etc.YouunveilaRivenbycompletingaspecialchallengemarkedonthemod.That’swhenyoufindoutexactlywhatweaponit’sforandwhateffectsithas. SetMods SetModsareratherunique.Theygainstrengthwitheachmodfromthesamesetthatyouequip.Eachsetconsistsofatmostsixmodsthathavetheirownstatontopofthesetbonus.AugurAccord,forexample,boostsyourshieldcapacitydependingonitsrank.Italsohasthesetbonuswhichissharedacrosstheothermods.EquipjustoneAugurmodandyou’llonlyget40percentofyourspentenergyconvertedtoshields.Completetheset,however,andyougainamuchlarger240percent. PeculiarMods You’llprettymuchneverencounterPeculiarModsunlessyougolookingforthem.Thereareonlytwoandyou’lllikelyhavetoshelloutsomePlatinuminatrade.Thankfully,PeculiarModsoffernocombatadvantage.Rather,they’refocusedonsillylittleeffects.Theycauseflowerstospawnonenemiesyoushootandlimbstosubtlyinflatewhenyouscorecriticalhits.
