Owingtothesolidcase-back,itwasnotpossibletoappraisethemovementfinishing,althoughOrisstatethatthemovementfeaturestheirredrotor. Closingremarks Recently,whiletidyingmystudy,Ihappeneduponsomeoldpricelistsforavarietyofwatchbrands.Iwassurprisedtoseehowsomebrandshavesignificantlyinflatedtheirretailpricesovertheyears.Indeed,somecompanieshaverepositionedtheirbrandsmerelybyincreasingtheirpriceswithoutanyupliftinspecification. However,itseemsOrishaskeptitsheadwhenseveralaboutithavelosttheirs.TheSwissbrandhasnotlosttouchwithitsclienteleandhaskeptpricesundercontrol.TheOrisSourceofLifeLimitedEditionhasaretailpriceof£1900.00(RRPasat5.7.2018).Thisisnotaninconsequentialsumbut,basedonthismodel’sarrayofattributes,itrepresentsexcellentvalue. TheOrisSourceofLifeLimitedEditionfeaturesanattractiveandsimpletoreaddial,atoughcaseandaSwissmovement.Itisnotaparagonofhautehorlogerie,butneitherdoesithaveasixfigurepricetag.Withitsgoodlooksandrobustconstruction,thiswatchstandscomparisonwiththebestinthispricesegment. Quitesimply,Oris’smarketingisconsistentwiththeproductsitmakes.Ifonlyeveryonewasthishonest,lifewouldbemuchsimpler.
