Whatcouldgowrongwithmyhypothalamus? Hypothalamicfunctioncanbeaffectedbyheadtrauma,braintumours,infection,surgery,radiationandsignificantweightloss. Lackofanti-diuretichormoneproductionbythehypothalamuscausesdiabetesinsipidus.Inthisconditionthekidneysareunabletoreabsorbwater,whichleadstoexcessiveproductionofdiluteurineandverylargeamountsofdrinking.
