Intheevening,youdocourseworkuntilaround9or10pm,gotobed(orhaveacoupleofcheekychangsandthengotobed)andwakeupat7amanddoitallagain! ThisistheschedulefromMondaytoFriday.Ontheweekend,youcatchuponyourcourseworkbecauseyourduedateisfastapproaching.IwanttostressthatdoingyourCELTAisbynomeansaformality,itiseminentlypassablebutifyoudon’tdotheworkyouwilldefinitelyfail(aspeopleonmycoursedid)andafterspending$1800onthecourseandmaybe$1000ontheflight,studyinghard-coreforamonthandalltherestyoudon’twanttobefailing.Somakesureyoustudy. Teachingfromthestart Fromtheoutset,onday2actually,theythrowyouinatthedeependandgetyouteaching.Veryscaryforanyonewithnoexperience(likeme,Iwasterrified).Butitcomesandgoesandthatbaptismoffiredefinitelyhelpsinthelongrun.Fromherethree,youkeepstudyingandworkingandteaching(andstressing). Coursework Youhave4piecesofcourseworktodooverthe4weeksinadditiontoeverythingelse(theregoyour4weekends!)andyouhavetoteach10classesof40minutesthroughoutthecourse,soyoudon’thavetoomuchtimetorelax. Grammar Ok,soamonthgoespastinaheartbeat,youhavelearnedthingsaboutEnglishgrammarthat,ashamedly,youdidn’tknowbeforeevenasanativespeaker.Definitionsofadverbs,adjectives,nouns,verbs!Youwilllearnallthisduringthecoursesoifyoudon’tknowwhenyouregister,don’tworry,neitherdidI! Youlearnalotofadvancedgrammartooandtobehonestthat’sallreallycoolandwillsetyouupforlifewhenitcomestolearninganotherlanguage(whichIdiscoveredasIStudiedThai).Wefinishedupandleaving,asalways,isasadday.Nowournewlivescanstart!
