(1)Mutingdevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthemutingcannotbeactivatedifthehazardouszoneofthemachineisinanunsafeconditionorcycle. (2)MutingdevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthemutingcannotbeactivatedevenifthepersonnelisaccidentallyapproachingthedetectionzoneoftheGL-R. •Themutingdevicemustbeinstalledsuchthatonlyresponsiblepersonnelhaveaccesstothatdevicetochangetheinstallationororientation.Specialtoolsmustberequiredtoensurethatonlyresponsiblepersonnelarecapableofinstallation,orientationorchangeofmutingdevice. •Onlytheresponsiblepersonnelmaybeallowedtoinstallorwirethedevicestoactivatethemutingfunction. •Theinstallationofamutinglampmayberequiredbythelaws,rules,regulations,andstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risusedifyouapplythemutingfunction.Itdependsonthemachineapplicationand/ortheresultofyourriskassessment.Ifitisnecessaryforyoutoprovideamutinglamp,youmustfulfilltherequirementsbecauseyouarefullyresponsibleforinstallationofthemutinglamp. •TheoverrideisafunctiontoallowatemporarymanualsuspensionofthesafetyfunctionsoftheGL-R.Therefore,additionalsafetymeasuresarerequiredfortheentiremachinesystemonwhichtheGL-Risinstalledinordertoensuresafetywhiletheoverrideisactivated. •Theoverridedevices,theinstallationofthosedevicesandtheprocedurestoactivatetheoverridemustfulfilltheconditionsspecifiedinthismanualaswellastherequirementsofthelaws,rules,regulationsandstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Randthosedevicesareused.Failuretofollowthiswarningmayresultinsignificantharmtothemachineoperators,includingseriousinjuryordeath. •Theoverridedevices,whichareusedforactivationofoverride,mustbemanualoperatingdevices.Wheninstallingthedevicestoactivatetheoverride,thosedevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthewholehazardouszonecanbecheckedbytheresponsiblepersonnelandsothatitisnotpossibleformachineoperatorstooperatethosedevicesinthehazardouszone. 1 EGL-R-IM   •Theinstallationoftheindicationforoverridemayberequiredbythelaws,rules,   regulations,andstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risusedifyou   applytheoverridefunction.Itdependsonthemachineapplicationand/ortheresultof   yourriskassessment.Ifitisnecessaryforyoutoprovidetheindicationforoverride,   youmustfulfilltherequirementsbecauseyouarefullyresponsibleforinstallationofthe   indicationforoverride.   •Thecustomerisfullyresponsibleforcomplyingwiththerequirementsformutingand/or   override.Thosewhousemutingand/oroverridemustfulfillalloftherequirements   relatedtomutingand/oroverride.KEYENCEacceptsNOresponsibilityandNOliability   foranydamageoranyinjuryduetotheunauthorizedinstallation,usageor   maintenance,whicharenotspecifiedinthisuser'smanual,and/ordueto   noncompliancewiththelaws,rules,regulationsandstandardsinthecountryorregion   inwhichtheGL-Risused.   •Whenthereducedresolutionfunctionisapplied,thedetectioncapabilityvaries   accordingtoyourconfiguration.Makesuretoaccuratelycalculatethesafetydistance DANGER accordingtothedetectioncapability,andinstalltheGL-Ratadistancegreaterthanor     equaltotheminimumsafetydistanceawayfromthehazardouszoneorhazard.The   installationofadditionalsafetymeasures,suchassafeguarding,mayberequiredifthe   detectioncapabilityvariesduetotheconfigurationofreducedresolution.Onyourown   responsibility,youmustperformtheriskassessmentbasedonyourconfigurationof   reducedresolutioninordertoreducetherisk. •Whenthefixedblankingfunctionisapplied,ahazardousclearancethatisnotprotectedbytheGL-RmaybegeneratedbetweentheobstacleandtheGL-R.Youmustinstallanadditionalsafetymeasuresuchasasafeguardforthisclearance. •SecurelytightenmountingbracketsandcableconnectorsusedfortheinstallationoftheGL-Rinaccordancewiththetorquevaluesspecifiedinthisuser'smanual. •WhenopticalsynchronizationsystemisappliedandChannelAorBisconfigured,theresponsetimeislongerthantheothercase.Makesuretoaccuratelycalculatethesafetydistanceaccordingtotheresponsetime,andinstalltheGL-Ratadistancegreaterthanorequaltotheminimumsafetydistanceawayfromthehazardouszoneorhazard. Circuitdesignandwiring •AlwaysturnoffthepowertotheGL-Rwhenperformingelectricalwiring. •YoumustfulfilltheelectricalstandardsandregulationsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risbeingusedwhenyouperformtheelectricalwiring. •Toavoidtheriskofelectricshock,donotconnectanyoftheGL-RinputstoDCpowersourcesoutsideoftherangeof24VDC+20%ortoanyACpowersource. •Toavoidtheriskofelectricshock,besurethatanyhazardousvoltageisisolatedfromallwiringoftheGL-Rwithreinforcedinsulationordoubleinsulation. •InordertofulfilltherequirementsinIEC61496-1,UL61496-1,EN61496-1andUL508,thepowersupplyfortheGL-Rmustfulfilltheconditionslistedbelow.
