•ThemachineonwhichtheGL-Ristobeinstalledmustbesusceptibletoanemergency

Installation
•TheGL-RmustbeinstalledonlyafterensuringtheminimumsafetydistancebetweentheGL-RandthehazardouszoneorhazardasestablishedbytheapplicableregulationsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risused.(e.g.ENISO13855(ISO13855)inEUcountries)
•ChooselocationsfortheinstallationoftheGL-Rtransmittersandreceiverssothattheyarenotsubjecttotheeffectsoflightreflectedfromglossysurfacesinthearea.
•Correctoperationanddetectionisnotpossibleifthereceiverhasadifferentbeamaxisspacing(detectioncapability)fromthatofthetransmitter.Youmustverifythatthebeamaxisspacing(detectioncapability)isthesamebetweenthetransmitterandthereceiverwheninstallingtheGL-R.
•TheGL-RmustbeinstalledsothatthemachineoperatorisabletogointoorapproachthehazardouszoneorhazardsonlybypassingthroughthedetectionzoneoftheGL-R.Strictlyavoidinstallationthatallowsthemachineoperatororapartofthemachineoperator'sbodytogointoorapproachthehazardouszoneorhazardswithoutpassingthroughtheprotectivezoneoftheGL-RortoremaininpositionbetweentheprotectivezoneoftheGL-Randthehazardouszoneorhazard.InacasewhereyouinstalltheGL-Runitsinseries(seriesconnection),youmustalwayschecktheinstallationcarefullywhetheryoufollowthiswarning,especiallyafterinstallationandmaintenance.
•Youmustalwaysperformthepre-checktestsafterinstallingtheGL-Rinaccordancewiththepre-checktestprocedures,suchasitemsspecifiedinthisuser'smanual,inordertoverifythatthetestpiecescanbedetectedinallofthedetectionzones.
•Interlockresetmechanisms(suchasswitches)mustbeinstalledsothattheentirehazardouszonecanbecheckedbytheresponsiblepersonnel.Interlockresetmechanismsshouldnotbeaccessiblefromwithinthehazardouszone.
•MutingisafunctiontoallowatemporaryautomaticsuspensionoftheGL-RsafetyfunctionswhiletheGL-Risreceivingasignalfrommutingdevices(suchassensorsorswitches).Therefore,additionalsafetymeasuresarerequiredforthemachineonwhichtheGL-Risinstalledinordertoensuresafetywhilethemutingisactivated.
•Mutingdevices,theinstallationofthosedevicesandtheproceduretoactivatethe
mutingfunctionmustfulfilltheconditionsspecifiedinthisuser'smanualandthe
requirementsofthelaws,rules,regulationsandstandardsinthecountryorregionin

whichtheGL-Randthosedevicesareused.Failuretofollowthiswarningmayresultin
significantharmtothemachineoperators,includingseriousinjuryordeath.
•Whenyouinstallmutingdevices(suchassensorsorswitches)formuting,thefollowingconditionsmustbefulfilled.
(1)Mutingdevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthemutingcannotbeactivatedifthehazardouszoneofthemachineisinanunsafeconditionorcycle.
(2)MutingdevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthemutingcannotbeactivatedevenifthepersonnelisaccidentallyapproachingthedetectionzoneoftheGL-R.
•Themutingdevicemustbeinstalledsuchthatonlyresponsiblepersonnelhaveaccesstothatdevicetochangetheinstallationororientation.Specialtoolsmustberequiredtoensurethatonlyresponsiblepersonnelarecapableofinstallation,orientationorchangeofmutingdevice.
•Onlytheresponsiblepersonnelmaybeallowedtoinstallorwirethedevicestoactivatethemutingfunction.
•Theinstallationofamutinglampmayberequiredbythelaws,rules,regulations,andstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risusedifyouapplythemutingfunction.Itdependsonthemachineapplicationand/ortheresultofyourriskassessment.Ifitisnecessaryforyoutoprovideamutinglamp,youmustfulfilltherequirementsbecauseyouarefullyresponsibleforinstallationofthemutinglamp.
•TheoverrideisafunctiontoallowatemporarymanualsuspensionofthesafetyfunctionsoftheGL-R.Therefore,additionalsafetymeasuresarerequiredfortheentiremachinesystemonwhichtheGL-Risinstalledinordertoensuresafetywhiletheoverrideisactivated.
•Theoverridedevices,theinstallationofthosedevicesandtheprocedurestoactivatetheoverridemustfulfilltheconditionsspecifiedinthismanualaswellastherequirementsofthelaws,rules,regulationsandstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Randthosedevicesareused.Failuretofollowthiswarningmayresultinsignificantharmtothemachineoperators,includingseriousinjuryordeath.
•Theoverridedevices,whichareusedforactivationofoverride,mustbemanualoperatingdevices.Wheninstallingthedevicestoactivatetheoverride,thosedevicesmustbeinstalledsothatthewholehazardouszonecanbecheckedbytheresponsiblepersonnelandsothatitisnotpossibleformachineoperatorstooperatethosedevicesinthehazardouszone.

•Theinstallationoftheindicationforoverridemayberequiredbythelaws,rules,
regulations,andstandardsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risusedifyou
applytheoverridefunction.Itdependsonthemachineapplicationand/ortheresultof
yourriskassessment.Ifitisnecessaryforyoutoprovidetheindicationforoverride,
youmustfulfilltherequirementsbecauseyouarefullyresponsibleforinstallationofthe
indicationforoverride.
•Thecustomerisfullyresponsibleforcomplyingwiththerequirementsformutingand/or
override.Thosewhousemutingand/oroverridemustfulfillalloftherequirements
relatedtomutingand/oroverride.KEYENCEacceptsNOresponsibilityandNOliability
foranydamageoranyinjuryduetotheunauthorizedinstallation,usageor
maintenance,whicharenotspecifiedinthisuser'smanual,and/ordueto
noncompliancewiththelaws,rules,regulationsandstandardsinthecountryorregion
inwhichtheGL-Risused.
•Whenthereducedresolutionfunctionisapplied,thedetectioncapabilityvaries
accordingtoyourconfiguration.Makesuretoaccuratelycalculatethesafetydistance

•SecurelytightenmountingbracketsandcableconnectorsusedfortheinstallationoftheGL-Rinaccordancewiththetorquevaluesspecifiedinthisuser'smanual.
•WhenopticalsynchronizationsystemisappliedandChannelAorBisconfigured,theresponsetimeislongerthantheothercase.Makesuretoaccuratelycalculatethesafetydistanceaccordingtotheresponsetime,andinstalltheGL-Ratadistancegreaterthanorequaltotheminimumsafetydistanceawayfromthehazardouszoneorhazard.

•AlwaysturnoffthepowertotheGL-Rwhenperformingelectricalwiring.
•YoumustfulfilltheelectricalstandardsandregulationsinthecountryorregioninwhichtheGL-Risbeingusedwhenyouperformtheelectricalwiring.
•Toavoidtheriskofelectricshock,donotconnectanyoftheGL-RinputstoDCpowersourcesoutsideoftherangeof24VDC+20%ortoanyACpowersource.
•Toavoidtheriskofelectricshock,besurethatanyhazardousvoltageisisolatedfromallwiringoftheGL-Rwithreinforcedinsulationordoubleinsulation.

Interlockfunction
InterlockisafunctionthatpreventstheOSSDfromautomaticallygoingtotheONstatefromanOFFstate.
Youcanpreventtheunintendedstart-upand/ortheunintendedrestartofthemachineifaninterlockisappliedtotheGL-R.
Externaldevicemonitoring(EDMfunction)
EDM(ExternalDeviceMonitoring)isafunctionoftheGL-RthatmonitorsthestateofthecontroldeviceswhichareexternallyconnectedtotheGL-R.TheGL-Rcandetectafault,suchasweldedcontactsonexternaldevices,aslongastheEDMfunctionisactivated.
Thisfunctionisavailableonlywhenconnectingthe11-corecabletothereceiver.
FixedBlanking
Duringnormaloperation,theOSSDremainsintheONstatewhiletheGL-Rdetectsnointerruptioninthedetectionzone,andtheOSSDgoestotheOFFstatewhentheGL-Rdetectsinterruptioninthedetectionzone.Ontheotherhand,iffixedblankingisenabledoncertainbeamaxes,theOSSDremainsintheONstateaslongastheGL-Rdetectsinterruptiononthosebeamaxesandnointerruptionelsewhereinthedetectionzone.
Reducedresolution
Duringnormaloperation,theOSSDgoestotheOFFstatewhentheGL-Rdetectsinterruptioninthedetectionzone.
Ontheotherhand,ifreducedresolutionisenabledontheGL-Rwiththenumberofbeamaxestobeignoredandnotmonitoredspecified,theOSSDremainsintheONstateevenwhiletheGL-Rdetectsinterruptiononcertainbeamaxesaslongasthetotalnumberofinterruptedbeamaxesislessthanorequaltothenumberofignoredbeams.
MutingFunction
ThemutingfunctionisusedtotemporarilysuspendtheGL-R'ssafetyfunctionswhiletheGL-Rreceivesasignalfrommutingdevices(suchassensorsorswitches).Beforethisfunctioncanbeused,theoutputsfromthemutingdevicesmustbeconnectedtothemutinginputterminalontheGL-R.
Inaddition,theconfigurationsoftwareprovidestheuserwiththeopportunitytoselectthebeamaxestobeinthemutedcondition.Youcanminimizethenumberofbeamaxestobeinthemutedconditionbyusingtheconfigurationsoftware.Therefore,youcanreducetheriskofinterruptingthehazardouszone.
Mutingdevice
Whenusingthemutingdevice,itmustbemetwiththefollowingconditions.
•ThemutingdeviceoutputmustbeN.O.(normallyopen).
•Outputofthemutingdevicemustbetheoutputwithcontacts,andmustbePNPoutputtypeifPNPoutputtypecableisused,orNPNoutputtypeifNPNoutputtypecableisused.Also,themutingdevicemustbecapableof2to3mAcurrent.
•Donotuseonemutingdevicewithmultipleoutputsinplaceoftwoormoremutingdevices.(Onlyoneoutputperonemutingdevicemustbeused.)
•Ifthemutingdevicehasatimerfunctionthatcanadjusttheoutputtiming,donotusethatfunction.

Mutingbankfunction
Themutingbankfunctioncanbeactivatedthroughtheconfigurationsoftware.
YoucanconfigureuptothreemutingbanksontheGL-R.Eachmutingbankisagroupofbeamaxesthatwillgointoamutedconditionuponactivationofmuting.
Inordertoactivateamutingbank,youmustswitch(ONandOFF)themutingbankinput.
Overridefunction
Duringnormaloperation,theOSSDgoestoanOFFstateifthemutingfunctionisdeactivatedandaninterruptionremainsinthedetectionzoneoftheGL-R.TheOSSDOFFstatewillremainuntiltheobstructionisremoved.
OverridefunctionallowsatemporarymanualsuspensionoftheGL-Rsafetyfunctions.
ThismakesitpossibletoremovetheobstructionremaininginthedetectionzoneoftheGL-R.(MachineisabletobemanuallyoperatedonatemporarybasisbecausethesafetyfunctionoftheGL-Ristemporarilysuspended.)
Conditionsforinitiationofoverride
OverridefunctionisinitiatedifallofthefollowingconditionsaremetandthewaitinputgoestotheONstatewithin0.04sto1saftertheoverrideinputturnsONstate.
