Firsttimeyourequestadownpayment¶ Whenasalesorderisconfirmed,youthenhavethepossibilitytocreateaninvoice.Invoices areautomaticallycreatedindraftssothatyoucanreviewthembeforevalidation.Tocreatean invoice,OdooSalesoffersyou3options: Regularinvoice Downpayment(percentage) Downpayment(fixedamount) Intermsofdownpayment,itcaneitherbeafixedamountorapercentageofthetotalamount.The firsttimeyourequestadownpayment,youcansetapercentageorafixedamountofyourchoice, andselecttherightincomeaccountandtaxes.Thesesettingswillbereusedforfuturedown payments. ImportantWhenyourequestyourfirstdownpayment,anewproductcalledDownpaymentwillbecreated. Thisproductwillberegisteredasaserviceproductwithaninvoicingpolicyof orderedquantities.Asareminder,youcaneditthisproductandmodifyitatanytime. Pleasenotethatifyouchoosedeliveredquantitiesasinvoicingpolicy, youwillnotbeabletocreateaninvoice. Basicsalesflowusingdownpayments¶ Forthisfirstexample,wewillusea50%amountdownpaymentwithaproductusing orderedquantitiesasinvoicingpolicy.Makesuretocheckoutourdocumentationaboutinvoicing policieshere:Invoicebasedondeliveredororderedquantities,beforerequestingyourfirstdownpayment.Whenitcomesto createandviewtheinvoice,youwillonlyhaveaccesstoadraftinvoicementioningthedown payment(asyoucanseebelow). There,youcanposttheinvoiceandregisterthepaymentofyourcustomer.But,weallknowthatin reallifethisflowdoesnothappenimmediately.So,fornow,youcanreturntothesalesorder. There,youwillhavethepossibilitytoseetheorderasacustomerwiththeCustomerpreview buttonortoreacheasilythepreviousdraftinvoicewiththeInvoicebutton.Inanycase,the downpaymentwillbementionedonboth(salesorderanddraftinvoice). Tocompletetheflow,whenthecustomerwantstopaytherestofhissalesorder,youmustcreate anotherinvoice.Onceagain,youwillhavethechoicetomakeanotherdownpaymentortodeductall thedownpaymentsandso,payingtherestoftheinvoiceasaregularinvoice. Thisflowisalsopossiblewithadownpaymenttakingintoaccountafixedamount. ImportantBecarefulthatifyoudoadownpaymentwithaproductusingdeliveredquantitiesas invoicingpolicy,youwon’tbeabletodeductallthedownpaymentswhenitcomestoinvoicing yourcustomer.Indeed,youhavetodeliveraproductbeforecreatingthefinalinvoice.If nothinghasbeendelivered,youcreateacreditnotethatcancelsthedraftinvoice createdafterthedownpayment.Todoso,youhavetoinstalltheInventoryApptoconfirm thedelivery.Otherwise,youcanenterthedeliveredquantitymanuallyonthesalesorder.
