Entity Percentile DataYears Researchers 1% 10 Institutions 1% 10 Countries 50% 10 Journals 50% 10 HighlyCitedPapers 1% 10 HotPapers 0.1% 2 HowtoReadThisTable: Thistableshowsyouthecitationperformancethreshold thatanentity'sresearchneedstomeetinorderforittoqualifyasHighlyCitedinafield.DataYearsreferstotheyearsexamined-10meansthatthefull ESIdatafileisconsidered.Percentilesareinverted,so1%meansthatanentityisperforminginthetop1% whencomparedtopeers.  Examples:TobeincludedasaHighlyCitedResearcherinChemistry,thetotalnumberofcitationstoaperson’sChemistryoutputmustbe inthetop1%whencomparedtoallotherresearchers,whohavepublishedChemistrypapersinthelast10years.Eachauthorlistedonapaperiscountedequally. HighlyCitedPapersarepapersthathavereceivedenoughcitationstoplacetheminthetop1% whencomparedtoallotherpaperspublishedinthesameyearinthesamefield,i.e.2008Physicspapersareonlycomparedtoother2008Physicspaperstodeterminewhethertheyhavebeencitedenoughtorankinthetop1%.  ForHotPapers,onlypaperspublishedinthelast2 yearsareconsidered.HotPapersarereceivingcitationsquicklyafterpublication. Thesepapershavebeencitedenoughtimesinthemostrecentbimonthlyperiodtoplacethem inthetop0.1%whencomparedtopeerpapers.PeerpapersarepapersthatwereaddedtoWoSCoreCollectionduringthesamebimonthlyupdateandbelongtothesamefield.
