PreviousNextJavaScriptmustbeenabledtocorrectlydisplaythiscontent TheExpenseAllocationfeatureenablesyoutoaccountforfixedexpenseswithouthavingtosplitthemamongindividualdepartmentsorlocationsinadvanceofincurringtheexpenses.Later,youcantransferexpensesintodifferentaccountsandassigntheexpensestospecificdepartments,classes,orlocations.AnadministratorcanenabletheExpenseAllocationfeatureatSetup>Company>EnableFeatures>Accountingsubtab. TheAccountingPeriodsfeaturemustbeenabledtouseExpenseAllocation. Important: YouruserrolemusthaveFullleveloftheCreateAllocationSchedulespermissiontouseExpenseAllocation. Expenseallocationismanagedbyallocationschedules.Yousetupallocationschedulestoallocate,ortransfer,balancesfromexpenseaccountsintooneormoreotheraccounts.Youcanchoosethedateandfrequencywithwhichexpensesareallocatedonanongoingbasis.YoucreateanallocationscheduleatTransactions>Financial>CreateAllocationSchedules.Formoreinformation,seeCreatingExpenseAllocationSchedules. Note: WhenyouuseNetSuiteOneWorldinconjunctionwiththeExpenseAllocationfeature,youcancreateanintercompanyallocationschedule.Intercompanyschedulesallocateabalancefromonesourcesubsidiarytomultipledestinationsubsidiariesforcoststhataresharedbetweensubsidiariesonaregularbasissuchasrentutilities.Formoreinformation,readCreatingIntercompanyAllocationSchedules. Foreachscheduledallocation,ajournalentryisautomaticallycreated.Formoreinformation,seeCreatingExpenseAllocationJournalEntries. YoucanberemindedwhenallocationsaredueintheRemindersportletonyourdashboard.Tosetareminderforallocationschedulesthataredue,gototheHometabandclickCustomizethisPage.IntheAddContentpanel,clickordraganddroptheRemindersItem.IntheRemindersportlet,clicktheSetUplink.IntheSetUpRemindersdialog,checktheAllocationSchedulesDuebox,andclickSave.Clickthereminderintheportlettoviewandapproveallocationjournalentries. IfyouhaveenabledboththeStatisticalAccountsandtheDynamicAllocationfeatures(Setup>Company>EnableFeatures>AccountingunderAdvancedFeatures),youcanassignanystatisticalaccounttoanyallocationschedule.Theweightfortheallocation,basedonthebalanceofthatstatisticalaccountthroughstatisticaljournalsorasanabsolutevalue,isdynamicallycalculatedwhentheallocationjournalisgenerated.ThisisusefulinadvancedcostingsuchasActivityBasedCostingandUsageBasedCosting,andwhenyouarerunningcostcentersandprofitcenters.Tocalculatestatisticalweight,NetSuiteusestheflatamountforeachdestinationlineintheallocationschedule,ratherthandividingbythetotalamountenteredinallofthedestinationlines. Note: YoucancontroltheperiodoftimethatNetSuiteusestocalculatethebalance(weighttimeline)byspecifyingthetimelineenddatethroughtheNextDatefield.Thisenddatecanbethedateonwhichthescheduleruns(systemdate),orapastorfuturedate.Whenyouselecttheweightbasis(specificdate,periodtodate,quartertodate,oryeartodate),yourweighttimelineisrelativetothedateyouenterintheNextDatefield.Thisisusefulwhenyouwantanallocationscheduletocalculateastatisticalaccountbalanceforaperiodoftimepriortooraftertherundate.Forexample,youwanttorunyourallocationscheduleonMarch3,2015(systemdate)fortheFebruarypreviousperiod,February1through28,2015.YoualsospecifytheNextDatefieldasFebruary28,2015tosynchronizethesourceandweightbasistimelinetoFebruary1–28,2015.Withthenewsynchronizedweightenhancement,thesourcetimeline,createdjournals,andtheweighttimelinearedrivenbythevalueintheNextDatefield.Formoreinformation,seeWorkingwithAllocationSchedulesWeightedbytheBalanceofaStatisticalAccount.
